Air Farce

Once again, Air Force choked on the thick sea level air of Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. In true Navy Vs. Air Force fashion the game came down to the final seconds and then overtime field goals. Now supposedly, AF's kicker had been looked at for the NFL because he was supposed to be really really good. Well honestly the only thing i saw off his foot that was NFL quality was the pair of Nike's he was wearing on his boot. He hit lame ducks all game, some how making them in through the up rights. Navy's kicker on the other hand was off the chain. He had kickoffs go out the back end of the endzone. Needless to say, his field goals put us ahead and then won the game for us. Thats what happens when you score one touch down and 3 field goals...

Anyway, that wasnt the best part of the action. The best part happened outside in spot 176 where my last name is temporarily enshrined on a 8'x18' piece of asphalt in yellow paint. Temporarily in that rectangle resided a small SUV loaded the way a waggon on the Oregon Trail only could have dreamed to have been loaded. The selection of food was absurd. My mother, who has now been renamed the DZACC (Donna Z.'s Awesome Catering Company), provided a spread that looked more like a meal from an italian restaurant than tailgate. Many members from my plt made an appearance prior to and following the game. We had a good 20+ people show up for food and we somehow still had food left over. I was surprised, needless to say, especially since I single handedly ate half of the spread. I still feel fat. I think gained about 5 #'s just from the tailgate alone. I cant tell you how self concious i feel right now because of it and how guilty i feel...just kidding...but seriously.

It was a grand old time. Old friends, new friends, parents, friends of parents, teammates, former teammates, etc etc.

Its time to get back to reality. We get to do some more live fire stuff in the future. I dont know who thought that would be a good idea, but we get to watch things go boom!
